Fernando Torres has made little impact since arriving at Chelsea for a £50 million fee
Spain boss Vicente del Bosque says he is "concerned" about the form of Fernando Torres ahead of Euro 2012.
Del Bosque feels Torres deserves "leeway" for his past contributions - notably his performances in the successful Euro 2008 campaign - but has warned that his current lack of first-team football could harm his chances.
"It's a concern," Del Bosque told AS. "He isn't playing much. There are five months to go to the European Championships, in which everything can turn around, but if the situation doesn't change it's going to be difficult for him.
"Fernando deserves respect for his career, and he has our confidence, but if he doesn't play... well, time will tell. If he plays and he's fine, he will go to the Euros. He has contributed to the success we've had and he has some leeway."
Del Bosque may be forced to call on Torres if David Villa does not fully recover in time for the summer. The Barcelona striker suffered a broken shinbone during the Club World Cup earlier this month, and is likely to be out of action for at least four months.
"He's Spain's leading goalscorer and he's got us out of trouble many times," Del Bosque said. "Villa is important, but the doctors are optimistic and so is he. We'll see."
