Born 8/1/88 in Isleworth, Middlesex.
A composed and elegant centre-back or right-back who can also play in midfield, Michael played a second season on loan in the Championship at QPR last year, making 31 appearances and breaking into the England Under 21 team. He was part of the side that won a place in next summer's European Championships at that level.
He was originally picked up by Chelsea as an eight-year-old and made his debut in the reserves whilst still a schoolboy. He turned professional in January 2006 and was named on the bench for the first team for the final game of the 2005/6 season but was not called into action.
He was also an unused sub in the 2006 Community Shield before playing 30 games at Loftus Road two seasons ago. In August 2007, he signed a new three-year contract. He is now on-loan at Championship pace setters Wolves until the end of 2008 and in November, was called into the full England squad for the first time for a friendly against Germany.
Returning to Stamford Bridge for 2009, Michael will be a member of the first team squad as he looks to break through and earn a place in Luiz Felipe Scolari's side.
